    c2 Hardtop decklid mounting holes

What is the best way of marking and drilling the deck lid holes for the hardtop hardware, are there measurements any place, I do not see any info in the 63 assembly manual ? Thanks

    Daniel -

Put the hardtop on the car, mark the hole locations through the brackets on the top, remove the top, and drill the holes.

The 1965 supplementary service manual does cover this. Describes fabricting a plastic pin that helps locate exactly where the deck top holes go. It also warned that the front latches should not be cinched down when the hole positions are located. Just have the pins engaged. Makes sense. Recommends .125" pilot holes before drilling .500" finish holes.
Another recommendation is to put a 2x4 under the deck while drilling so you don't pierce the folded top! Now why didn't I think of that?

Thanks Mike, if your saying you drilled a hole in your top, I did one better, bought a brand new 23' boat and the manufacter forgot to put the drain plug in the in floor cooler, I told the dealer don't worry I;ll install the plug, well before the boat ever saw water I drilled the drain plug hole, great all done, long story short, I drilled right through the bottom of the boat:eek.
Come to find out my rear deck lid had filler in the holes and I had no problem drilling them out, Thanks for the info

I have a 66 and the top of the deck has never ben drilled but it has the side fasteners in place. Is this normal?

Bill -- are you saying that you have the two side hardtop (vertical) mounting bracket attaching bolts and/or nuts, but not the two hardtop stud holes with stainless steel bezels (at the bottom of the back window) ?

Is yours a 2-top car ? ie. does the rear deck lid have the convertible top chrome-plated rear bow locks (with thumb unlock-lever) ?

Reason I ask is there were probably two different deck lids on the assembly line; (hardtop only, and soft-top w/ or w/o auxilliary hardtop). Holes were drilled accordingly.
