I am new to the NCRS users forum and I am looking forward to learning more about restoring my 1956 Corvette. I have a rather unusual question that I hope one of the other members can help me with. The exhaust manifolds for my engine have an apparatus attached to them, which appears to be a factory installation. The apparatus is on both sides of the engine and can only be described as looking like a bugle or trumpet. I have tried to attach some pictures so that you can get a better idea of what I am talking about, but for some reason they will not upload to this forum. I believe that it is some sort of pressure actviated valve which may allow for exhaust gases to escape, or to allow for fresh air to entire the manifold.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? What purpose does it serve? IS it worth any more than a normal exhaust manifold? Is it a factory installation? An experiment perhaps?
Any help from the Subject Matter Experts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
"Ski"
