    57 Door Post Question

There is a stud (I think it is about an 8-24 stud, but I'm not sure). Can this stud be removed and replaced? I may not be doing a very good job of describing which area I'm talking about, but it is shown in the AIM in section F, page 9.00. It is the stud that you can see detail "B" of that page.

    Thanks for any help.

If you have the room try threading 2 nuts onto the stud and tighten them together. Then use the nut furthest from the tip of the stud, as you would the head of a bolt and un-screw the stud from the post. Good luck. Bill

      Bill,
One thing I didn't mention was that I've had these posts rechromed. The threads are not in the best shape, so I'm not sure I can get anything on them.

If i run across bolts that have bad threads, i take a pair of channel lock's and grip it and remove the bolt. One of the door/window kits have replacement bolts. make sure your not talking about the plain post bolt with no threads that does not get replaced.I usually do this process before i replate the door posts and then tap the hole and replace the threaded bolt.. Thanks,Steven J. Neel
