    Tomco Fuel Inlet Vavles

    I have floated this question in several other threads w/o response, so thought I'd try one more time. I recently bought an AFB rebuild kit that came with Tomco Fuel Inlet Valves in place of the usual needle and seats. They cosist of a Viton disc and plunger in place of a needle. They are two pieces assembled together in a hex shape body (which makes for easy installation) with side slot venting. Although they are supposed to flow more, they also claim to do a superior anti-flooding job and generally improve hot gas vapor handling, reduce stumbling, etc. The disc rotates as it operates allowing it to clean itself.

    I tried one of these back in the 70's in a QJ, but I can't recall if it performed well or not.

    If anyone has had any experience with these I'd like to hear your impressions before I install them. I'm having a lot of heat soak gas vapor problems with my 63 here in Florida. Although I could not see any fuel dripping in the clusters after shutdown, my local Auto Parts Store refused my drain oil as they said they could smell gas in it (tilt!).

      Clem;

      Thanks for the response Clem. Can you tell me if the floats are to be set the same (level and drop) as with a std. N/S? Actually, I guess I just need to know if they have any special characteristics I should be aware of.

      Thanks again;

      Stu Fox

      p.s. Be nice to have the bunch back from Carlisle this next week and hear their stories.

        i don't know as the only ones i have used came with the setting for the carb i was rebuilding and i did not have the original specs. there was also a spec list for other carbs in the kit. carlisle was better this year as the temps were nice and we did not have a tornado.
