In 69, 116 L88 + 2 ZL1, BUT ONLY 115 J56 Special HD Brakes ?
should be 118, why only 115 ?

I'm guessing here, but I think that L88 and ZL1 were "packages", consisting of much more than just engine; and that the J56 equipment totals would not be listed separately if already accounted for elsewhere.

If HD brakes in 1969 was like 1967, all you needed was a 427; in '67, even a 390hp automatic could have them !

So my guess is that the real J56 total for 1969 is 115 + 116 + 2 = 233, putting it more in line with '66 (382) and '67 (267).

But then I could be all wet .

No,I think in 69 you only got J56 HD with L88 Only,
3 L88s IN 69 WITH no J56 HD ????
