    P/S Leakage

My 74 P/S slave cylinder is starting to leak / seep out at the shaft seal. I'd like to wait until I put her in storage in Nov. before I rebuild the cylinder. My question is; short of putting a baby diaper on it to stop messing friends driveways and my garage floor up does anyone have any comments on the "P/S Stop Leak Additives"? A friend of mine suggested the Lucas Oil Product. Thanks for any input.

    Martin,

The only rebuild for the slave cylinder is a end seal. If the shaft is wore or pitted around the middle of the shaft (where it rests with wheels straight) it probably will still leak and require replacement.

It's a easy job but you will need a tool to break tie rods loose to remove the tapered stud from the drag link. Pep Boys usually will rent one and it's a snap to use plus much easier than beating with a pickle fork.

I would not waste money on any stop leak additives as I don't believe they will work.
