I have read all the 66' Tech discussion info re: "Black vs. White" square placement on crossed flags of Rear Deck fuel filler cap. So, far, this issue seems unresolved.. but, the early/late answer seems the most logical. However, the "New Issue" for me it the "White" background spoken of in the Judging Manual. I cannot find any Fuel Cap for the 1966 model that has a white background, Early or Late issue, or, supplied by any current parts house. Is this a discrepancy to the Judging manual?

Sounds to me like there's a terminology issue here.... The JG book describes several items under Exterior, Section 9, Fuel Filler Area.
One is the fuel door that has the plastic emblem. Another is the fuel cap that's zinc plated from Stant. This part has no 'white background'...- Top
