      Very Cool!
The Bel Air may have been a pilot car.
The clip is dated 1956 and the rear view mirror is attached to the dash. Also radio delete.

Re: 57 Fuel Injection promo film

Thanks Bill. It's been a long time since I saw that film. I had the same reaction then as I did now: If that is what the new 57 Chevy looks like inside with the rear view mirror on the dash, then where am I going to hang my fuzzy dice?

p.s. I have one of the Franklin Mint 57 Corvette fuelie engine cut-a-way models and I look at it every now and then for inspiration.

I have to agree...my Franklin Mint fan belt broke!

                  Neat film clip! Thanks, Bill!

I had to laugh at the bragging about improved starting (8:22) because one of the 10 written complaints my dad took to the dealer about his '59 fuelie was "stalls after warm-up, hard to restart." (I don't know if that got fixed by an adjustment.)

The 58 unit was not too great either for hot starts. The one that bugged me though was in the winter; 2 degrees above zero it would start, but 2 degrees below and it wouldn't. Got so I would throw an old wool army blanket over it to try and keep it warm.

p.s. Regarding model collections; I have over 115 F.M and D.M. 1/24 scale - mostly Corvettes. I've been replacing the F.M. units with D.M. units, year for year in my display case. They are much better.

The reason the cut-a-way is so valuable is they stopped production because there were so many complaints about incorrect detail fom NCRS members (cogged belt, etc.).

the fuel shut off to save fuel also would cause a burned piston if you raced you FI chevy in the NASCAR beach race.

Stu; Any idea what F/M cut-a-way is worth? I know you never see them for sale.

I used a trouble light on the intake manifold (Chicago suburb).
