Re: Hard question to ask yourself

    For me it's a 63 SWC Fuelie.
My first corvette was a 64 coupe, saddle brown with saddle interior, which I bought in 64 while living in Buffalo, NY, working for GM as a toolmaker.
I came over from Germany in 62 and always liked the corvettes.
Moved to Michigan to work for a machine tool company as a rep. Drove the 64 allover the Midwest for 3 years, until I fell in love with a white 67 Cadillac Eldorado and sold the corvette for $ 2,200.
Always wanted one again and finally found a Sebring silver 63 SWC fuelie in Florida thru Ebay. Did a 5 year body-off and completed it this summer.
Driving it as much as I can, till the weather turns bad (Michigan...). Besides driving it, it's also nice to look at...Hope I don't do anything to it, before I have the chance to get it judged, planned for this coming spring or summer.
Thanks Roy for starting such a nice thread, enjoyed reading about all the different "personnel favorites".

Re: Hard question to ask yourself

For me it was a 63 coupe model from AMT. I painted it black and loved it. I built well over 300 models when I was a kid but that was my favorite.

The one I'd like to have now if I could only have one? 65 convertible. That was my first one and I still miss it flaws and all.

I like my 72 LS5 coupe a lot but not as much as the mid years.

my 2 favorite corvettes if tied to life's events would be our new 1959 that mrs clem and i left on our honeymoon in and our new 1966 427 that we brought our only child home from the hospital when he was born. no mandatory car seats in those days as he rode in mrs clem's lap!

63 coupe, hands down, and Toms' is a perfect example

back in the 60s i never saw a set of factory KO but i did work on L-88s,L-89s and even a ZL-1 corvette. i guess i got to see and work on the "good stuff".

                            1973! Here's how...

I was always a GM guy. I had Buick Grand Nationals, Camaros and even a GMC Typhoon. I wasn't really into vettes, but I picked up the August 1993 issue of Corvette Fever because I had a Z28 on order and there was an article on LT1 performance mods I wanted to read. While flipping the pages, I came upon Bill Erdman's beautiful pictures of 5 '73's all owned by the same individual. There was one particular 3/4 rear view of a coupe that absolutely mesmerized me. I had to have one!

I went to my Chevy dealer and cancelled the order for the Camaro. After a few months of searching, I finally found an orange '73 L82 coupe which became known as the "GR8PUMKN". I joined the NCRS and enjoyed the car as a driver, never having it judged. C4's, C5's and C6's all followed as my daily drivers and I became a diehard corvette nut.

I sold that first '73 and always regretted it. The bug to get a '73 again was too strong and in March of this year I purchased a LS4 coupe in very original condition with full documentation. I renewed my membership in the NCRS after a long hiatus. With the help of many on this board, my car was awarded a Top Flight at a chapter event in September. I'm not going to sell this one!
