    1994 engine pad stamping?

I am looking at a 1994 Vette with an engine # V0204ZWA. I have enclosed a photo of the engine pad below. Can anyone tell me if this looks like a correct engine pad stamping? A friend claims that the pad looks altered and I just don't know what exactly to look for. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

      Joe:

Thanks for getting back to me. As far as I can tell, the V = Flint engine plant; 0204 = Julian build date of January 20, 1994; and the ZWA = 350 ci 300 hp with automatic tranny. However, there is no VIN # or partial VIN #. Shouldn't there be a corresponding VIN # to match the car?

Let me know what you think.

There have been alternative sites for the VIN, look in the area near the oil filter.

Here's a pic of my untouched 96 pad, for what it's worth. And my VIN derivative is found on a pad near the top of the driver's side bell housing. See the attached link to a previous thread for a picture of it.

Here's a picture of my VIN pad for 1992 LT1 1G1YY23P5N5109704. You can see the VIN no. This pad is on the rear shelf of the block behind the left bank. It is HARD to see. I had to relocate the AIR hose and wiring harness behind the driver's cylinder head to get a good look at it. If you're lucky (?!), your LT1 will leak oil, and it will be covered in grease and not all rusty...

I think it is the same date code system they used for years -- in this case Feb 4. Does that work for your car Peter?

Have you found the VIN on your cylinder case?
