I am a new owner of a '67 wishing to figure out the correct size rally wheels for my car (it now has repro bolt ons, but the car originally had rally wheels). I understand that there was an article in a Restorer issue several years ago listing whether a car has large DC, small DC, or B wheels based on VIN #? Does anyone recall this article and date, or have information available? I have no spare to help me figure this out. I appreciate any help.

Re: !967 original rally wheels
Joe - Wendell Hans, Jr. authored a number of articles on rally wheels in 2002. The Winter 2002 might be the most useful as it some database info on VINs and associated wheel codes. Basically, B rally wheels were early in 1967 production and then DC or DG. I don't think 67 production year wheels had any small letters, those came later. The acid test is to examine the production date information on the inside of the rim with the tire off the wheel. It's a PITA but it's the only way to really know for sure. Have fun. Pete- Top

Peter --
Thanks for your quick reply. I will check on the back issues of the Restorer in 2002 to determine my wheel codes using the stats by VIN. I am anxious to add the Rallys, but want to be sure of the correct size. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your reply confirming the 15 x 6 wheel size. I have a Feb. 67 produced car and want to purchase correct, original rally wheels -- DC or DG base on my VIN #. I now know that B wheels only appeared on very early 67's. I now also understand from a previous reply that this information is available in print. I will keep searching. Thanks, Joe- Top

Re: !967 original rally wheels
HI Joe,
This is by no means proof positive, but my 66 (when I bought it) had a prior owners original 67 spare in the tub. This spare had never been on a car (non dot, nubs still on it, etc.). I called the prior owner who told me that he had a Feb. build 67 that he had put bolt-on wheels on and had put its original spare in the 66. That wheel was stamped "DG".
