C1 1957 build date

Trying to figure out the build date of my car. 57 #2079. The Corvette Birthday Book shows 01 Feb.1957 which seems to correlate with most other production dates end of month records I have seen. Now for the anomaly: The "new" Fourth Edition Judging Guide p. 70 lists vin # 2060 as 2/12/57. Does somebody have records that the car with that vin # was built on that exact day, if so it appears at least some of the 57 built dates are off by 11 days or thereabouts. I can see a day or 2 but this is significant.

Look at the "new" Judging Manual it specifically shows #2060 2/12/57

Jim, the 4th edition JM isn't new. It's probably 5 years old or thereabouts. Am update is being worked on and hopefully will be completed by next summer. Not sure where those month and VIN number correlations came from. That table along with most of the other tables in the JM to be evaluated for correctness. Gary....

Hello all , this is my first post, think I can help a little. I have 2383 (all original glass) & my fiberglass under trunk hindge (Dr. side)is dated Feb 11th Guessing built around Valentines Day, so give it a few more days (1957 calander days) for completion time after date stamp , I think this will help, so......... look under your conv. lid or trunk hindge area of the bare glass,that is = if you think or know all components are original to your body! I know this method has been know for a long time but after years of time & repaints the purple ink stamps fade away or blasted away. Good luck.

Jimmy, believe that table and many others are carry overs from the first 56-7 JM that John Amgwert did. In previous 56-7 JM's there are references to every VIN and the dates. Unfortunately, this information didn't make it to the 4th Edition. The following is an excerpt from the 3rd Edition JM. The data is confusing and appears to have conflicts. Which is probably one of the reasons the GM/Chevy records reference wasn't included and the Dates/VINS were reduced. Don't know why the Date/VIN decisions were made they way they were. Reconcillation of the tables will take a while for us to do. Hope this helps a little to clarify the Date/VIN table in the 4th Edition. Gary....

Neat Info on 57s One of these 57s was my old car {oct 31 56 ,to april 9 57.sold to Gorrie Chevrolet,Ontario Canada ,but i do not have serial # was sold in Vancouver B.C. in 1960-61red white coves 245 h.p. 2 x4s auto ,white soft top only power top and washers.
