$100 for real unused ones would be a deal in my book, used under that.

Kirk, I paid $30.00 for a set at the Florida Regional. They had red paint on them as well and major dents and scratches. After lots of soft hammering, sanding and polishing with 0000 steel wool they look as good as new.

harry has it nailed. a used set, bought inexpensivley at a swap meet, are almost always repairable. time and elboe grease and the self-satisfaction of restoring it yourself are what the hobby is all about. mike

Kirk, I agree with others that a used set in the way to go, if, you can find a set. I've looked at quite a few sources, and haven't found a decent set yet.
I've included a pic of NOS ones I bought for my '67 as a last resort until I can find a restorable used set.
The pair on the left of the pic are NOS in stainless steel, with the part number and letter "A" stamped on near the mounting flange. they have the visible seam on the bottom. GM part number #3819573. If you search the archives, there has been a lot of expert discussion of originals, vs NOS.
The pair on the right are used, inexpensive reproductions. The reproductions are much thicker steel, and posibly chrome plated. They are about a half inch shorter, and have no visible seam. To the trained eye, they are obviously not originals.
The NOS pair in boxes have a current "market" value from $125 to $200 on the popular auction sites, right now. There is a pair listed on ePay right now at a buy-it-now price of $400 (go figure).
Hope this info is somewhat helpful. Ridge
