    C-2 Ammeter

    I have tested my ammeter (in the dash) with a 1.5 Volt battery and there is no needle movement at all. I think that I will have to take it out and either rebuild it or replace it. QUESTION: Must I remove the gauge cluster to get it out of the dash (1966 C-2) , or if I remove the 3 nuts on the bolts on the back of the amp gauge, will it come out of the dash?
    If I must remove the cluster, what is the easiest(and best) method?

    Larry -- if memory serves, eons ago, I was able to remove the mini-pod of fuel gauge and ammeter by undoing the 3 screws that hold it to the main cluster, then removing those 2 instruments as a sub-assy. Might help if you remove the headlight switch before, for access.

    I'm sure if this is impossible, others will chime in.

      Done it myself, just as described, as dash work goes, not one of the more difficult jobs. I think I remember it being done by one member on a PV!

        Thanks for the info. I will remove the ignition switch after I have a closer look at the back of the gauge cluster.
