    1972 carpet replacement

I am looking for a supplier of good original replacement carpet for my '72.

I have heard Al Knock Interiors is on of the better one. Any comments or suggestions.

What is the difference betwwen 80/20, 80/20 looped, and plush. I am looking for originality?

    Your help will be appreciated.

Loop for standard interior. Plush for deluxe interior.

In the past, no one made the correct configuration for the rear bulkhead with the stepped tabs on the ends. (The newest JG has drawings of this.)

During judging the past year, I have seen some that is made correctly. The owners told me it came from Corvette America, but they didn't know who actually made the carpet. Auto Custom Carpets used to make very good reproductions.

Jerry - I installed an 80/20 loop Al Knoch carpet in my 70 convertible last February. Overall I was very pleased with it, and it judged well, with just a ding or two for having a clear backing.
A couple of other minor problems was the carpet came with a dimmer pad, and my 70 shouldn't have one. No big deal, I just removed it. Also, the passenger footwell carpet did not fit perfectly, and I had to trim part of it to take out wrinkles. I'm not sure about the details Reba spoke of, because I THINK the carpet in that area is different for coupes. Hope this helps.

              Hi Jerome,
I, too, would recommend Al Knock reproductions.
              Regards,
              Alan
