I don't think you can beat Intercity- the last time I put a truckload together to go to Boston they also had the best price.

Horseless Carriage did an excellent job for me with a CA to PA delivery of a 64 coupe roller (no brakes either). Helped me get the car safely into the garage with no complaints from the driver for extra work required.

You have to be careful with those - some are "broker" sites, and brokers will set up whoever they can find that will net the broker the best profit for the trip, not who will carry your car enclosed and take good care of it. A "good deal" from a broker can result in "Redneck Ronnie and his Rusty Rig" showing up to haul your car on an open haulaway truck.

In each case where my son did this, he dealt directly with the carrier (no broker) and discussed the move in detail to assure himself that the carrier was qualified and equipped to do the job. He also got references from them. It is a case of buyer beware and be smart, I guess. The scenario you speak of could be risky indeed.

The last one he used (PA to FL) was well known as well to the seller. He showed up on time with a beautiful/expensive rig pulled by one of those big ford Diesel Pickups with dual wheels. Nice rig.

I was more concerned about my move from IL to FL with Reliable. They picked up mine first, then went to Detroit for another pickup. Mine stayed up top the full ride so I guess it was OK. The driver was efficient and very knowledgable, as it was in June, I even sold him my snow blower.

I've used Reliable to ship my new 63 SWC from Illinois to California - very happy with their service - great equipment, and a good driver.

he moved my L88, did a great job, at a fair price

I have heard good words about Reliable from a friend and I believe Chrysler still uses them to deliver Vipers.

FWIW, I awarded the Viper delivery contract to Reliable every year for the six years I was the Plant Manager, primarily on the basis of ZERO transportation claims - Viper owners are VERY picky; they've been awarded the Viper contract every year since then as well, for the same reasons.

I've used Reliable several times since then for my own cars, and Reliable recently took my '69 Z/28 from the Detroit area to Las Vegas and back when Chevrolet borrowed it for the National Dealer Business Conference to introduce the new Camaro concept to the dealers.

I used Horseless too from CA to PA for delivery of a '69 convertible and have absolutely no complaints. It cost me $1,500, well maybe I'd complain about that.

I have used Intercity and Reliable both from Los Angeles to the east coast and to Bloomington. Both give great service and decent rates.
