GM 100th - Sept 16?

Hi,

GM's official birthday is Sept 16th. Does anyone know of any "official" happenings in the Detroit area on or about that day? I'm supposed to attend a seminar in California later that week, and I'd like to know if I need to incorporate anything special here in Michigan before I leave. So far Google searches haven't turned up much.

I believe there's a "GMNext" website (Google should bring it up) that should have the 100th event info somewhere. There are some major events in Flint - maybe they can find some hotels as photo backgrounds that don't have plywood windows.

Nothing useful.

And, as you know, I've done the "Flint Celebration" thing.
I'm not going there if that's where the party is.
I was hoping that there was something at the present HQ building.

Patrick, I know this might be short notice, but there is one of GM's major Century events coming up this next Saturday. It is a parade of 100+ significant vehicles from the GM headquarters in Detroit to their Woodward Dream Cruise sights in Birmingham and Royal Oak. There will be a police escort the entire route............probably only need it downtown though.
My car has been honored to be selected as one of the 100+ vehicles. It probably will be the only vehicle that was/is in BOTH the 75th and the 100th.

If I hear anything happening on the 16th I will send you an e-mail.

Patrick, The National Corvette Museum is holding the Historic Motorama II from September 10 to 16th. Starts is Bowling Green and ends with a couple of days in Detroit. Some NCRS members in the group. The list is on the events section of the NCM website. We will represent the 1956 with our Black car.

Yes, I saw that they need a 72 but opted not to register.

Any idea what's happening in Detroit once this Motorama arrives? I can't find any info.

What time on Sat the 16th are you scheduled to depart Detroit for Birmingham? If you know, I will get a picture of you and your car. As far as a police escort I would think one would be more required in Oakland County than Wayne County, due to the gridlock.

Rick, we will depart the Rec-Cen at 7:30, and drive at about 25MPH straight thru. I don't know where you will be, but I think we will pass the Mi Chapter site at about 8-830AM.

I wasn't referring to TRAFFIC for the police escort....you can take it from there.
