67 parking light socket and wires

Is there a way to remove the socket and wire pig tail from the chrome bezel parking light on a 63-67 ? I want to replace the bezel only if possible.

Hi Dave:

Yes, this is possible. The brass socket is swaged onto the chrome bezel with a resulting lip on the lens side of the chrome casting. The trick is to lift that lip so that the brass socket assembly can be pulled out of the casting.

One of the guys in my chapter has succeeded in doing this, and is working on a tool that would make the job easier.
