Dupont has the exact etch primer you specified.
I used it on my restoration for all the pot metal parts and the birdcage.

      Bill,

Any clue on the part number of the paint?

For small parts that are supposed to be zinc chromate (like certain hose clamps), I have used the Zinc Chromate primer in a rattle can as shown in the following URL:

In my judgement the color was a reasonable match, but the parts I was working with are small. Since the cost is low, you could buy a can and decide for yourself about the match.

Dupont 215 S Acrylic Primer is a lighter color green than what is originally used on my 1970. I still used it because I wanted the protection on the windshield framing I was replacing. On the can it states "A highly corrosion-resistant acrylic lacquer type primer for use under standard refinishing systems especially in critical areas to prevent rusting."

Dupont 215S has been put to rest because it "causes cancer and birth defects". But a member lent me a can to do my bird cage area of my 66 and as Jim says it was a little light so I top coated it with Tempo aviation zinc oxide primer (A-802 green) and it is a perfect match.

This is the driver's side hinge pillar on my January 71 Coupe. It is a chartreuse that is different than what appears on many cars before and after. I've always wondered about an 'odd' batch of paint.
Rust-Oleum, Yellow Clean Metal Primer, #7773 was an exact match.
                  Regards,
                  Alan

Check with your local boat dealer zinc chromate is still use in boats and I have purchased rattle cans from the same. I work in aviation and we use zinc chromate but the color is more yellow then green now. Boeing still uses the green when the aircraft is built. Make sure you use a respirator chromate is very toxic and will kill. When you use it many thin coats as it dries very slowly if it is applied to heavy. Paul

                      Hello,
I bought (3) rattle cans of the following at Carlisle last year for the future
plans of replacing my windshield frame. The paint color is on the cap.
                      It's by Seymour.

                      The can reads:
                      Chromate Performance without the chromates.
Excellent protection against rust and corrosion.
Chemically bonds with Iron, steel and aluminum to form
                      a hard, water resistant coating.

Try PPG DAR46121. Perfect color match. Mix 15-parts color, to one part DXR80 flatner.
It is a top coat, so it will need to be primed first. I use PPG DP40 primer, then put a light coat of this over it.
                        Hard to tell from original.
                        Gary
