    under body cracks

on the under side of the body i have uncovered 2 cracked areas one shows evidence u joint or drive shaft failure the other looks like the car was driven over somthing and pushed up into the drivers side floor pan area . my question is now that all the underside of the body has been striped down to the fiber glass and being that these 2 areas are visible when on a hoist what is the best way to repair them while matching the origional grey fiberglass ... as well what color are all the underbody brkts painted ... thanks don.

    Re: under body cracks

    Don,
I have had to do a lot of this type of repair on my car. I have been using resin and color tints I obtained from Fiberglass Supply, Inc. You can Google them. With experimentation you can get the color match very close to the original. I also think Corvette Image produces color resins but I have not tried them. The hard part is to replicate the match molded look of the factory fiberglass. I have found that covering the repair with tin foil and squeezing the repair from both sides produces a acceptable smooth surface. The key is to experiment with the fiberglass and resin before you attempt the repair. Remember you can always redo the fiberglass if it doesn't look right. Also when repairing cracks try to make the repair feathered and wide. Good luck.
