    58 low hp with FI

I am restoring a 58 low hp with a 7014900 FI unit,. 915 distr. It does NOT have an automatic. It does have w/s washers.
This is for a customer-not my car. Engine build date-about Feb 58.
When I got this unit is was unrestored although messed with.
On the air meter there was and is a vacuum take off fitting. THe fitting is rather weird looking. It is cut at a 45, has 5 sides and is an inverted flare. Meaning a 3/16 brake line could screw into it. This fitting screws into the air meter right above the little welsh plug. Right near the idle fuel screw.(57 FI cars used this fitting also)
Aims: Sheet 2.00 109. Windshield washer. Shows vacuum hose going to a 3750029 connector-1/4" pipe fitting that goes into the plenum above the bellcrank. So then it has been establish that the w/s washer hose goes to the plenum.

QT: 915 distr has a hex vac advance that is threaded for 3/16". There is a short 90 Degree piece of brake line that screws into the VA. Then you use a rubber hose and head toward the air meter.
How do I connect this rubber hose onto the air meter fitting-the one I described above. I need to know exactly as if I had to bubba it I could just use a short piece of straight brake line and screw it into the air meter fitting and then slip the 3/16 ID rubber hose onto that line. But that is just guessing.

Anyone have an original low hp 58 with a 4900 unit and std tranny with w/s washers? I wish I had done a better job explaining to you. Thanks, John D.

P.S. Does Tim Mickey ever go on line here?

Re: 58 low hp with FI

    John,
What you describe sounds very much like what a '57 low hp FI passenger car uses. In the '57 application, to the best of my knowledge, a hard line is used between the vacuum advance and the air meter fitting. Do you have any evidence or knowledge that indicates a hard line would not be correct for your '58 project?
