Car Judged Tomorrow - Need Some Answers Quick

1967 convertible 327/300hp, AC. PB, PS

    1. How exactly does the radio card attach to the tuning knob? The hole in the card is way too small to fit over the stem of the tuning knob???? Cut the card and then widen the hole? String?

    2. My convertible top lost its tag a long time ago. Bought the funky stick on tag from Corvette Central. Do I just stick it on the top even though it is obviously fake and nothing like the original? Does that really save you points??

    Thanks.

Isn't the tuning knob attached by a set screw on the shaft?

So you literally have to remove the knob to mount the card? Is that correct?? Anyone??

yes, remove knob, insert card over shaft then re-install the knob. i'd put the funky repo top tag on. can't hurt as much as not having any tags.good luck with your 67.mike

Kirk - I've never lost a point with my repo soft top tag for my 70, but mine looks pretty close to me, although I can't remember where I got it.
I also crumpled mine slightly, attached double-sided tape to the bottom end only, and then slid that end under the fabric edge where my tag used to be. All this made it look slightly aged and attached to the top, and it curled a bit like a lot of originals I've seen. It looked pretty good, to me anyway.
And I definitely think something's better than nothing.

            Hi Kirk:

Good luck with your first Flight judging!

From your posts and photos over the last year I know you have a really nice car and you have done a lot of work to detail it. I hope things go very well.

Even if the car doesn't Top Flight the first time out (mine didn't), you will gain a lot of information that is hard to come by any other way. Then you can develop a road map for making improvements.
