On my 69 coupe there is a lip on the front edge of the quarter in the door jamb. On the passenger side the lip goes up the vertical surface and continues to the 3'' horizontal surface on the top edge of the jamb. On the drivers side the vertical lip does not protrude as far and is not there at all on the horizontal top section. Was this lip used to adjust proper door fit?

Re: 69 quarter panel lip
Brad,
I'm trying to visualize what this looks like but if you could add a picture I think it would help. Could this be a water draining channel?Terry Buchanan

Re: 69 quarter panel lip
Terry the first and third pictures are of the passenger side the middle picture is of the drivers side . You can see the lip on the passenger side but there isn't one on the drivers side. It is hard to get a good angle to show the lip on the first and third pictures. Thanks Brad- Top

I expect they might have fine-tuned the door gap by grinding that lip...at least when it was available. That's how I plan to use it. But...I doubt that any assembly efforts were made to create that panel "overlap" beyond what was designed in by engineering. It's the result of tolerance combinations in the body assembly jig and panel dimensions IMO.- Top
