Where can I find premixed body color ('61 Roman Red) paint in a spray can? I only need a few touch ups so I don't want to have to go to body shop.

Re: '61 Body Paint
Some of the catalog houses offered pre-mixed touch-up paint in rattle cans. If memory serves, Ecklers was one. I can't tell you how closely the final match will be going this route vs. taking a painted body part (eg. gas filler door) to a local auto paint shop for a scan on their colorimeter and a custom blend to match...- Top

Best way I've found is to remove a good condition painted item from car, take it to paint supplier and have them custom match it and put in spray cans. Too many variations of Roman red out there to trust them 'premixed'. Assume you have lacquer still, so it can be blended into existing areas. For an extra fee, paint shop will save fomula for additional paint in future.

Hemmings advertisers sell "factory colors" in cans, but I can't attest to the accuracy. Premixes always have the issues of the sample they mixed from being accurate and also the age and degradation of the paint you are trying to match. I would probably take a sample in to a paint supply house, have them mix to match and fill a couple of spray cans. I did that about 10 years ago and it worked well.
Good Luck!

Richard,
If you want to touch up a few nicks on your paint, you can try a red magic marker, which is what I do. I agree with Dan that you cannot go with pre-mixed for a correct match. I got the Eckler's paint and it does not match my Roman Red.
If you want to have a real match, you can order some paint to match based on your providing a panel or some item that shows the color you want. Then you can get a Preval sprayer where you can put some in the jar as shown in the pic and spray till you're happy. Not as fine a mist as a rattle can or a real paint gun, though, but you'll have to sand out and buff anyway. If you have a real paint gun, use that and it will probably be even better. El Cheapo paint guns were $15 at Carlisle last year and they probably will do fine for a touch up.
