I have looked back in the archives a few years and did not see anything specific about a 69 balancer. I did see a 70 Balancer thread, but I am not sure if it is realative to my question. My balancer is #3942538 on the back and stamped B 9 F on the front. It is 8" x 1 11/16" (or 1 3/4") Is this the correct balancer for my car (it is a Feb 69 build)? It appears that the balancer has slipped and I do not want to put it on my freshly rebuilt engine. Do I look for a used replacement at Carlisle PA next week or is there a better solution-ie new purchase, rebuild old one? If new purchase or rebuild-what company has what I am looking for? Thanks.

James - I don't know if you have the right balancer or not. But if you do, or if you find a used correct one, Damper Doctor in Redding, CA can restore it for you. They did two for me recently, and I'm very pleased with their work, and they have a VERY fast turnaround. Good luck- Top

I think you have the correct balancer for your application. The number you mentioned is a casting number for the hub section of the balancer assembly and not a part number for the assembly. However, as I recall, it's the number used for the hub for the balancer you require.
The 69-70 L-46 balancer was the same as the 70-72 LT-1 and 73-80 L-82, although 2 different part numbers were used over the years. Both were physically and functionally identical. Much later GM replacements had degree marks embossed on the outer ring.
Your balancer outer ring timing mark should be off-set from the crank keyway slot by 9 degrees. If it is, I don't think your outer ring has "slipped".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
