    door latch mechanism problems

Any suggestions on interior door latch mechanism free play? The exterior works fine but I have just enough travel to release on the inside. I have adjusted the rod as much as possible but still too much free play.

    Re: door latch mechanism problems

common problem with c-2 latches. remove the latch assembly form both doors. there is a small lever that presses on the unlatch mechanism. once you've identified the slop that accumulates on the lever over the years of opening the door from the inside, simply weld a bead on the small lever to decrease the play between the small lever and the unlatch mechanism. i believe i wrote an article years ago on this subject in the restorer. good luck, mike
