Markings under 63 dash

In restoring the instrument cluster in my son's 63, I found markings on the underside of the dash behind the cluster. One set was the date 5-15-63. This was of interest since the 63 only gives a week-of-build date. So, now we have a specific date. Also there was a mark D-78. I don't know the meaning of this. Have any of you seen this location for marks on a 63 and what is the meaning of D-78? Larry

Assuming that the VIN of the car is some time after May 15, it is probably the day the cluster was assembled. D78 is probably the inspector's ID #.
