My 57 (4176) was 1 of 6339 in 1957. How many are still around? I searched through all the 1957 posts in the archives and was surprised that this question wasn't there. Do I need to redefine my search?

Just how do you think any one would know? The question has been asked many times but is un- answerable.- Top

For what it's worth; My guess is that about 30/35% of all corvette's were destroyed and parted out in the first 10/12 year of there lives. Just a guess?Bill Lacy

I will venture to say that a few more examples of vintage, survivor Corvettes will be discovered this year, tucked away in garages or barns. Hope you get a better answer, Ridge.Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .- Top

Ridge,
That's all I was looking for, an estimate. Something to think about while I'm at work, not that I need much prodding to think about my car while I'm at work.
To your point about discoverys. Mine was in a garage for 20+ years until I got it this spring.- Top

To add-on, there's no US National registry data base. We register/license cars on a State by State basis.
Then, you have the complicating factor of export. You'd be surprised to see how many of our classic Corvettes managed to 'crawl' their way out of the US and Canada where the lion's share were originally shipped to... So, there's a 'leak' factor at work which compounds the issue. Just because a given Corvette isn't registered in the US/Canada doesn't mean it's been 'scrapped' or is no longer in existence!- Top

yup, imagine how many cars are exported overseas
i live in the netherlands and have a list of 115 c1's and 149 c2's
registered over here where whe know of by now
we dont keep record of c3 and up cars but these have a much bigger population over here
Go figure:
Sweden has the most american cars per inhabitant besides north america
(and the most of these cars are of the 50s 60s and 70s)
they even claim to have the biggest Us car meet in the world
i dont know if this a fact ? but it is big

Sander;
That web site was great. Seeing all those triple 5 Chevies makes a trip there for one of their events worth considering. My wife has been yearning to spend our next vacation in Scandinavia - wants to see the "land of the midnight sun"! This just gets me more interested in planning a tour.
We've been to your great country several times, but unfortunately, before I learned of all your great events via this TDC. We'll be keeping another return there in mind as well.

Sander;
Although we have fond memories of your beautiful country, we had one bad experience on our last trip through association for my wife. We were just about to board our tour bus to leave Paris when my wife was attacked by a young purse ******er. I tried to tackle him against the bus, but I'm not as quick as I used to be. He got away with her bag in which she was carrying a number of Heirloom Diamond rings which she planned to have reset in Amsterdam. That kind of put a cloud over our visit there. But, the Beer on the tour boat was great, and I really enjoyed the fascinating Architecture.
