1963 T-10 Transmission

Hello to everyone!
This is my first post on the technical discussion board. I am looking forward to learning a lot from all the experts in this forum.

I am in the process of restoring my 1963 convertable that I have had since I was 23. I have completed a frame-off restoration except for the transmission. The shop who did the work could not figure out how to get the T-10 right so I am looking elsewhere for help. It will shift from 1st to 3rd but not into 2nd when the engine is running. I was told that 2nd gear and the shaft it is on were quite worn. They replaced most of the internal parts including synchros but not any of the gears(why I don't know). I took it out of the car and now want to find someone who can restore it correctly so I only have to put it back in once. Any direction would be very helpful.

Thanks, guys. I will call D&L to see what the job will cost. Even though a whole bunch of new parts were installed in my T-10 new gears(at least 2nd) were never put in. I want to have the job done right.

John, I just had a friend have his 65 trans done. It was second gear and the syncro's. It was not done by D&L, but as a price point, the cost was $325.00. That was the trans only, it did not include the labor to take out and re-install.

Thanks, Harry.....very helpful. I already have the T-10 out of the car and ready for shipment somewhere. $300-400 does not sound bad if that includes 2nd and/or 3rd gears and labor. I believe it has everything else new including synchros, yoke, etc. Where was your friends T-10 rebuilt?

John, it was a Muncie in his car. I'll send him an email and see if he can recall the re-builders name.

John, just got a reply. The shop that did the trans only deals through car restoration shops and does not deal directly with the car owner. When my friend called them, they didn't say much more than yes, we worked on your trans.
