Is there a full list of all the NCRS National conventions anywhere?

Re: Is There A Full List Of National Conventions Anywhere?
It's these kind of questions which make me realize I am still totally a newbie- what's the difference between new and old? My assumption is that conventions from (say) 15 years back or further were massively smaller, but that they served the same general purpose. Perhaps in the very early years when there were no chapters, the national conventions were all the NCRS gatherings that existed.
Am I completely off base?- Top

Re: Is There A Full List Of National Conventions Anywhere?
In the 25th Anniversary issue of The Restorer there is a list of the conventions thru 1999. The issue also is a complete history of NCRS from it's inception thru the first 25 yrs. Copies are still available from Cincinnati and it should be a must read for anyone interested in how we got where we are today.
I will be running selected articles in the upcoming issues of The Restorer from the 25th Anniversary Issue beginning with the fall issue mailed next month. The first article is how NCRS was formed.
Here's the list as it appeared in the 25th Anniversary Issue.
Following are the National Conventions and the number of Corvettes included in judging and special display:

...I was just doing a little research for the Delaware Valley chapter newsletter, trying to figure out how many times the national convention had been near St. Louis.- Top

Vinnie -- it sure would be nice to have that list updated all in one place -- especially with the number of cars at each. Looking at it brings back great memories.Terry- Top

Re: Is There A Full List Of National Conventions Anywhere?
From the 25th Anniversary Issue of The Restorer that was researched extensively.
The January - February 1980 issue of The NCRS Driveline is where "National Meets" first appeared. The cover story of that issue advertises Wisconson and California as National Meets. The article goes on to explain that "Due to the fuel situation and the increasing interest expressed by chapters wishing to conduct a National Meet, the Board of Directors has decided on two National NCRS meets per year. Beginning this year there will be one National Meet sponsored by the Board, and one National Meet sponsored by a Chapter. The Chapter sponsored National Meet will rotate each year among various NCRS Chapters showing ability and interest in conducting a large-scale meet, as decided by the NCRS Board of Directors and Chapter Coordinators."
"The Board sponsored National Meet will be held July 8 through the 12th, 1980, at the Dell View Resort, in Lake Delton, Wisconson."
"A National NCRS Meet, sponsored and hosted by the Northern California Chapter NCRS, will be held August 13 to 17, 1980, in San Mateo, California."
Records indicate Board sponsored National Meets for the following three years were held at St. Louis, MO; Bend, OR; and Bowling Green, KY. During that time, the Chapter sponsored National Meet was held in Cypress Gardens, FL hosted by the Florida Chapter for the years 1981 through 1983.- Top
