Hello, I just purchased a '54 Vette that was in storage for decades. The seller indicated that the car was totaled with 77 miles on it back in 1954 and that the tires are original. Does anyone know how I can verify that the tires are original? Many thanks, Jay
How do I verify if my tires on my '54 Vette are original tires?

Jay, if the tires hold air then I would guess that they are NOT original. I had an original spare in mine and it, being stored in the compartment for most of it's 54 years, literally crumbled.
BTW, mine was a Firestone Deluxe Champion.

I know that GM used different makes of tires on the 54s. But I have a picture of 54s sitting at the GM plant just prior to shipment. A close-up of a tire appears below. The maker name - Firestone - and other info appears in raised lettering within the white wall. Do your tires have the raised white lettering as well???
There was a thread a few weeks ago about 54 tires as well: 54 Tire Thread
