I have a transmission case with casting number 3885010, patent number 3088336, there is a vertical stamp P0913. I'm hoping this case will be correct for my Oct 5,65 built 327. there is a number stamped on the top of the case 134553. On the side of the case below the General Motors Corp. is a casted number 5, a very small casted number 7 and a circle with a line through it. Is this a vette transmission case and will it be date correct for my car? Thank you, Joe

Joe -- This is not a transmission maincase that was originally installed in a Corvette (due to the stamped VIN derivative 134553), but don't let that bother you. All Muncies were made at same assembly plant, whether they ended up in any chev or other GM model line that offered 4-spd's as an option. The fact that the VIN is on the top helps, as you could "re-stamp" a Corvette VIN derivative on the driver side and nobody would be the wiser [unless they used a mirror].
Timespan is good (about 3 weeks trans assy to car assy). The larger #5 is the casting mold #; the small 7 in a circle with a line is the month cast (July). Below the line, can you see 1 to 4 dots --[the week in the month] ?
I'd go for it.
