    '68 Rear Bulkhead Carpet Fasteners

While perusing the archives for info on carpet installation, I found some references to the use of three push-in fasteners to hold up carpet on the rear bulkhead of the storage area. My convertible, a mid-July '68 car, shows no sign of any holes in the bulkhead area for fasteners, only up front at the firewall. Jack Humphrey's post of May 17, 1999 talks about rain/water moving through the rear outside vent that will wick and wet the rear carpet. Sure would like to prevent that! So, is there any information as to just where these fasteners were positioned? Nothing in the AIM I am using about them at all.
Also, this car has nothing but a thin foamy material in the inside of the rear vents -- no doors or anything else. Seems like water would have no problem wicking right through this foam regardless of how well the carpet is secured. Is something missing here?
    Thanks!

There are no push in fasteners in the rear bulkhead on my April built convertible to hold the carpet up.

The rubber fasteners were not used in 1968. Carpet was glued to the rear wall that year.

Thanks, Reba! That certainly 'splains why I couldn't find any fastener holes! So how do you keep water from wicking through the rear vents into the storage area?

The post I made about water wicking through the rear compartment upright was focused on the later Shark cars that DID use PIF's to hold the rear carpert. The invasion path was through the PIF mounting holes when folks replaced their interior carpet without installing fresh/new PIF's because the AIM books FAIL to call out the use of PIF's....

So, in your case ('68 car) there are no PIF holes and no PIF's. Hence, there's no path for water to invade the interior through the rear compartment wall...

            Jack,
Thanks for your post! Your info plus Reba Whittington's previous post clear up my questions. I'll still be amazed if no water comes through those rear vents though; seems like the material in there would not keep water out very well.
