    Starter Identification

Could someone help me identify the starter/application
    with the following #.

    1108368
    Delco Remy

If from a Corvette, would this starter "work" with a Jan. '67 L71?

If you have a 1969 Chevrolet light truck with 307 V-8 engine and 3 speed manual transmission or if you have a 1969 GMC light truck with 250 cid 6 cylinder engine or 307 V-8 with 3 speed manual transmission, you have the correct starter for it. Of course, all that may remain of the original starter is the frame (the part with the numbers stamped on it).

As far as the numbers being "correct" for a 1967 Corvette with L-71, forget it. As far as the starter being FUNCTIONALLY correct for a 1967 L-71, that's another matter. It depends on its current configuration.

      Joe,

As always - thank you for the information. Looks like someone changed it out in the "early" years!!

      Take care,

      Bob

          Joe,

I did not see one (crawling under the car).....Could you please tell me where the code is located on the starter (in relation to the number I mentioned above)? I'll look for it this weekend as my car is in another garage.....

          Thanks Joe and take care,

            Re: Starter Identification

Date code should be stamped in the viscinity of the Delco Remy part number.

Also, understand what others are saying... If a starter was replaced and the replacement starter came from a commercial rebuilder, the numbers on the case are essentially meaningless. Most rebuilders practice reverse assy line techniques, running batches of builds and they don't care about factory originality. So, raw starter cases are re-used to produce this/that rebuilt starter regardless of what Delco Remy PN happens to be stamped on the donor case that was pulled at random from their inventory...

In the location that Jack mentions and it will be in the format of a single digit, followed by an alpha-character (letter), followed by 1 or 2 digits.
