    I have a friend who wants his 1963 Hub Caps "RESTORED", does anyone know if there is anyone that does this type of work? I would appreciate a NAME/TEL#/EMAIL ADDRESS/WEB SITE, Etc.
    Sincerely,

    John, there are two ways to approach a 63 hubcap.

    The 63 hubcap is mostly stainless steel. The spinners and the bars are chromed steel or pot. You can find a good stainless polisher/restorer and have him do the stainless. Then replace the spinners and bars with new repro parts. I estimate about $600 for this.

    You can send the complete hubcaps out and demand the original spinners and bars be de-chromed fixed and re-chromed and the stainless restored. This is $600 +++++.

    To the casual observer they will see no difference in the end result. The repro spinners are a little different, but essentially OK.

    If your friend just wants to send them out, try Andy Cannizzo. His number and email are in the archives somewhere. Do a search on his name.

      Harry;

      My 63 caps are fairly decent, but show a little wear and tear from normal on/off actions - specially some flattening of the outer rim from re-applications with a rubber hammer (and a few misses). The pitting is very minor as is the fade of the black inset paint (you have to look close).

      Can a SS man straighten these/remove slight dents, etc - not just polish?

      Thanks in advance for your information.

        Stu, yes they can. As an example I sent out the front stainless from my 63 hardtop. It was a complete mess, dents, dings, deep scratches. When it came back it looked NOS.

        Just put up a post and ask who do you recommend for any stainless restoration.

          Thanks Harry. As a matter of fact, I too have a dent in the front trim on my hardtop. That, plus the Florida heat, is one reason I don't like to use it much. Must be a favorite place for them to take a hit.
