    Chevrolet Rims

Can anyone tell me the accepted run out specs for rims? I would like to know both up and down, and side to side. Did these change over the years? Thanks in advance.

The service manual for an 08 Corvette gives runout limits for tire/wheel assemblies measured at the tire.

radial runout limit is 1.27 mm or 0.050"
lateral runout limit is 1.27 or 0.050"

I have no info on what the limits were going back in years.

In the 60's, Chevy (Kelsey-Hayes) specs for steel rims showed .035" TIR max for radial runout, and .045" TIR max for lateral runout.

One local shop that performs wheel truing services goes by his own standard of 20-mils max for both radial and lateral tolerance....
