    C2 A/C Cendenser Installation

I have a 66 327/300 with factory A/C and am having trouble getting the condenser installed on the core support. First, a little background. The engine is out of the car for engine swap. As part of the clean up and painting I pulled the core support and reinstalled. The fan shroud was removed before the hood was removed so I don't know how the condenser was attached from the front. I'm assuming the bolts for the fan shroud go through the core support and through the condenser brackets.

I've added some pictures for a visual. The problem is the condenser up tight at the top of the core support but the mounting holes don't line up. Any help would be great. If more pictures would help I can do that also.

    Ed,

Yes your assumtion is correct. The 4 condenser bracket holes should line up with the shroud captive nuts, ie, 4 bolts pass thru the condenser brackets thru the radiator support and engage the captive nuts on the shroud. Did you remove the condenser bracket from the condenser and replace correctly?

BTW use plastic plugs to cap off the open lines to the drier/accumulator. You do not want moist air contaminating the drier desecant.

Randy, thanks for responding and suggesting I check the brackets. I fussed with this a lot yesterday and kept saying to myself, 'the brackets are fine they only go on one way, it can't be the brackets'. Well, just to prove it made no difference I swapt sides and S...O...B... it fits just fine. There is a left and a right side to those things.

Thanks for your help. BTW, I covered the drier although, I doubt is makes much difference anymore. I've be work at this project for over a year.

        Hi Ed,
Nice picture of the waffle pattern stamped in the core support above the high pressure line in the last photo that judges want to see in original core supports.

            Ed,
I did not want to lose this thread before searching other threads. My C2 condenser (original sb '67) mounts correctly through the core support ( bb '66) and shroud. All looks exactly as yours does. However my factory hood will not open far enough to engage the hood support to lock because the hood contacts the condenser. Even swapped in a buddies working support with the same results. Can you help? Thanks.

John, I must apologize for not answering you back in April. I was out of the country and never say your post. Please see my post number 3 for how this was resolved. My issue was attaching the condenser to the support. Unfortunately, I have no suggestions on how to solve your issue with the hood hitting the condenser.
