can someone sell me two? i drilled two holes in mine when i was running a bad boy cam with little vacuum, but now, with the hydraulic setup i have good vacuum and would like to go back to normal plates.

if you can't find any i have just used a 82 degree countersink in the top side of the holes to give more area for the solder to stick and soldered them shut. what number is stamped on the plates ???

You can also braze them up & grind smooth.

i've never brazed anything and i feel kind of insecure about that. i picture the braze popping off and going into the manifold!

Clem's idea about soldering is a good one. With the brazing, it takes a lot more heat. Increases your chance of warping the plates.

Having been a party to two engines swallowing metal pieces (one an air cleaner stud nut and the other a hardened pin from a vacuum butterfly assembly), I would want very positive assurance that a Chevy V8 can digest solder w/o damage. In the two cases mentioned, one required a new valve (bent) and the other a new piston due to broken ring lands. I'd wait for the proper throttle plates and have an expert carb man do the installation. Those screws are peened over and will break on attempted removal if the peened ends are not ground off first.

the amount of solder used is very small and solder is soft and would blow out the exhaust if it did come loose which i never have had happen
