I'm looking for an oil pressure sending unit for my 74 L-48. Does GM still make a service part? I purchased a unit from one of the catalog companies and this thing makes my gauge jump from 10-15 lbs. at idle to 65 lbs at 50 mph. I don't think that's right. The only reason I replaced the original was because it was rusted and bent. I was surprised it worked! THANKS!!

Yes, GM still has available an oil pressure sending unit for your application. It's GM #15591103. It GM lists for about 100 bucks. However, this piece is not manufactured by GM. GM has not made parts like this in years and may or may not EVER have actually manufactured this type of piece. So, it's very possible that the part sold in the aftermarket under other brands is of the same manufacturing source as the GM piece. Or, it's possible that it's not.
