I have a 71 and have bilstein shocks. What is the point deduction? What would happen if I paint the bilstein the grey color to match the originals and have the correct sticker on them--think there was an EK front and EM rear --would I still get the same point deduction? Don't want old shocks on the car.

Re: General C3 Shock Absorber Point Deduction Question
There's no magic book with precise answers to questions similar to this- there's just too many combinations and permutations of parts.
You can possibly answer your own question- do the shocks presently differ in appearance from the originals? Put aside for the moment that you know that they were made by somebody else. If the answer is no, there's no deduct.
If yes, (which it will be) then evaluate to what extent they differ. Compare this to how many originality points the shock are worth, deduct accordingly.
If they were then painted the correct colour and had the correct identification added, the point deduction should reduce.
