    73'/74/'C3 Optional hardtop Wrench

The 73'/74' NCRS Technical Information and Judging Guide says that a hardtop wrench should be displayed for cars with the optional hardtop.
I am a third owner of a 74' with the optional hardtop and no wrench. There is no mention of a wrench in the my 74' owners manual (unlike the 70' manual which does mention a wrench) and there is no mention of a wrench, that I can find, in the 74' AIM. A previous post of mine on this subject found no 73'/74 owners with a wrench - but only a few replies. I could find no other posts in the archives on this subject

    Questions:
    1. What is the basis for mentioning the wrench in the NCRS guide? Can the guide authors comment?
2, Can anyone verify that they got a wrench with a newly purchased 73'/74?
    3. What is the wrench P/N?
    4. Can anyone post a picture so I know what to look for if I do need to obtain a wrench?

I'm not a C3 guy, but the hardtop wrench for midyears is shown in the Assembly Manual in UPC 0, on the "Miscellaneous Shipping List" sheet, with all the other items that were shipped loose in the car.

I helped with the 73-74 TIM&JG and never got a deduction on a 73 I had judged with a hardtop. Could you give me the page where the wrench is talked about as I have hunted where I thought it would be with no luck.

Pictured below is a known-original wrench from a 1969 convertible. However, I do not think these wrenches were originally supplied with 72-75 convertibles.

The wrench is mentioned in the 73'/74' NCRS guide on page 23 in the "Fiber Board and Tray Contents" section. It says "Also in the tray is an open end wrench for use with hardtop equipped convertibles in both years". There is no wrench in UPC-0 in my 74' AIM.

I am surprised this subject has not come up before as I assume many peple may have received point deductions for no wrench and would have questioned if a wrench was originally supplied.

            Re: 73'/74/'C3 Optional hardtop Wrench

I had a 73 judged with the optional hardtop. I have been to lots of meets and have not seen a hardtop judged on a 73-74 other than mine. Where the wrench is listed it would be easy for a judge to overlook an item not judged on most cars. I would say very few if any deductions have been taken for the wrench and the item has not been questioned. Send the information you have to the team leader and question this item.
