    1100884 0L6 alternator

Hello, NCRS, this is my first Discussion Board post. I need some information on a 1100884 alternator. I know that the 1100884 alternator was for the 1970 Corvette with A/C, and the 1100544 was for the 1971 Corvette with A/C. Well I have a 1100844 that is dated 0L6 with is Nov. 6 1970. Now where they any late production 1970 Corvettes built or does this alternator fit something else. tks Jim sheyp40@yahoo.com

It could have been made for SERVICE -- that is over the counter sales.

The last day of 1970 Corvette production was G31 -- July 31, 1970

Jim interesting to me about your 844 alternator. The date on the alternator is about the time GM replaced my 70's original 844 alternator. The alternator replaced under warranty on my new Corvette is a 554 alternator. I remember the service writer telling me that they could not get a 61 amp alternator for my new 70 and installed a more powerful alternator. My 1100554 not a 544 is a 63 amp date code 0J28.

Yes, that's likely what happened here. The GM #1100884 was available in SERVICE until August, 1971. At that time, it was replaced by the GM #1100554. The the actual manufacture (which, of course, determines the stamped-in dates) of the 1100884 ceased well before August, 1971. However, I feel very confident that they were still being manufactured as of November, 1970. In fact, the alternator in question here pretty much proves that they were.

I believe I would try to turn that 884 alternator into pure gold by finding someone that could engrave/stamp that "L" into an "E". Choose your engraver carefully...it would be like cleaving a diamond...you would only have one shot.
