My friend had bought a 63 vette in 1975. He had only driven it a few times since then. I looked at it for the first time today. The car needs a complete restoration. It does however have all the original parts on it. The only thing is that the engine pad reads TO5I7HC, thats all. What is this engine block from?

Re: 1963 engine pad question
There is no HC stamp pad suffix in my Corvette books for any mid-year (63-67) Corvette, and in 1970 Chevrolet switches to three letters. Are you sure the code is HC and not perhaps HQ or HO? Also, you say that's the only info the pad reads. Do you see a VIN derivative on the pad? I am thinking the engine may be a 1969 Camaro 350, or a 327 from a 1965 Chevy.
How's about a block casting number too? Should be on the rear of the block (near the driver's side firewall).Last edited by Chuck D.; July 25, 2008, 08:41 PM.- Top

Re: 1963 engine pad question
HC was used twice.
1969, 350cu in m/t ,250hp 2bbl A F X body
1965 327cu in Powerglide 275hp 4bbl full size
A casting date would narrow it down to which car it may have come from- Top
