    '62 front suspension

totally rebuilt my '62 front end, new everything that was available with the original control arms, knuckles and springs. centered the control arms on the spring tower and the knuckles in the control arms. now can't get it to align. both wheels have neg. caster and the right has neg. camber beyond the range of adjustment. what did i do wrong and what's the correction. don't want to shim the crossmember or bend the towers out and back. can the upper control arms be repositioned to the rear on the shafts and/or the knuckles be moved back on the upper outter shafts? help please!

Do you have the tappered shims between the crossmember and frame?

The issues you're having may be influenced by where each shaft was when you started the bushings into them. That's not necessarily an easy thing to do, because you're trying to start the bushing into the a-arm at the same time you're trying to start them onto the shaft. (Indexing two sets of threads at the same time). That's also something to look at.

Why don't you want to shim the crossmember? The factory did.

the crossmember is shimmed with repro shims as the factory did it, i was referring to putting additional shims in wtih thoses to tilt the crossmember down at the back. making new shims with increased angles is a possibility but intails cutting a compound angle on the mill using a sine plate. a real pain in the butt. control arm location on the shaft is a consideration but if the upper is moved back and the lower is moved forward, will that create a bind in movement? and is it the inners or outers or both that i would reposition? i do appreciate the time and effort you all put in to reply, i'd like to know what i'm doing before doing it. thanks
