    53-55 Radio power pack 6V-12V Trivia



    I've had 55 owners e-mailing asking how to tell the difference between a 53-54 6V and a 55 12V Radio power pack because they see them on e-bay for sale. If the vibrator is removed look to see if the vibrator socket has (3) holes or (4) holes
    The (3) holes is a 12V
    The (4) holes is a 6V as seen here right Pic.
    And if you cant see that ask the seller because many sellers don't know the difference and if they did the 55 should bring more money .
    One pic shows the 12V three prong vibrator.
    By the way I need one who do I call.
    And the harness from the radio to the power pack on a 12V is female where the 6V is male
    So now you dont buy the wrong one I hope


    By the way people ask if they can use a 56-57 power pack in a 55 NO! the (power line plug in) is also male,the 55 is female

      Good info Roy.

      Another point is that you can purchase a solid state vibrator unit to replace the noisy mechanical one. It looks like the mechanical "buzzer" and plugs right in to the vibrator socket, but is far more reliable and will last for many years without issues. They come in 6 v or 12 v from Radiodaze.com.

      I keep my original buzzer at home. They're getting VERY hard to find.
