Headlight Bucket Removal Advice Needed

Hello Guys,

I took out the L/S bucket on my 64 vert and it took forever, cant imagine what itgoing to be like to put it back. I am thinking there must be an easier way to do it. Can anyone give me advice on how to remove and reinstall?

Hi Dave,

You didn't mention if you had any specific problems (ie. frozen pivots etc.) but the bottom line is there is a lot of stuff to remove before you actually get to the buckets. Start from the inboard ( center of the car ) and work outboard toward the bucket. motor - opening stop - pivot support - seals & washers. Then the outer pivot support. The pivot support bolts are accessed by removing the headlight bezel. The time consumming secret most people try to avoid (only once) is to remove surrounding hardware. Hood - Bumpers - grill. With a clean front clip you can reinstall the buckets by bringing them from beneath through the grill area and up and forward into the headlight reinforcment mounts. Don't forget to grease the pivot shaft/pivot ball and wet the pivot ball felt seal with motor oil as done originally at the factory.
