    '62 radio removal question.

Where can I find a good "how to" on removing the radio to change the tubes? Did a search here but didn't come up with anything (probably my search ability).

    Thanks.

    Jack,
Removing the radio in your 62 is quite easy. First dissconnect the power connector on the left (drivers side) rear of the radio. Then lying on your back on the passenger floor you can remove the antenna cable followed by the side bracket and ground wire which is held on by a 7/16 bolt that goes into the side of the radio. Finally pull the knobs and spacers out front and remove the nut on each shaft. The radio can now be pulled rearward and tilted down to remove. GM may tell you to remove the package tray and heater cover for better access but it's not neccessary. Good luck. Rich

Great. I was afraid the package tray etc. would have to come out, and on anything this old, it never goes back as easy as it comes out, at least for me. Hope all new tubes takes care of it.

More than likely changing the tubes will not fix your radio.

Guess there is only one way to find out.
