    C2 headlight adjustment--easiest way

    Hi all,

I am trying to determine the best way to allign and adjust the headlights beyond simply turning the lights on in the dark and making necessary adjustments. Is there a proven method which works well and allows for proper disbursement of the light down range?

    Thanks,
    Craig W.

    Craig,

I'm thinking there is a procedure in the AIM for headlight adjustment. Consists of a measurement of the focal point of the light beam on a wall. Measured from the floor and also centerline of the car.

    Good Luck,

    tc

      Craig,

There is a diagram showing how to aim the headlamps in the '63 Corvette Shop Manual, page 12-6.
This is the one where the front end of the car is 25 feet from the wall.
It has all the measurements. I need to do this but I don't have any level 25 feet to a wall (or garage door) around!
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks Steven. I hope all is well with you and your family? Take care and let's do a road trip sometime soon.

        Cheers,
        Craig

I had the same problem with the lack of a level surface to complete the procedure in the manual. So I just used my C5 as a reference. The height and spread of the headlights is nearly identical to a C2. I positioned the C5 on the driveway and marked the center of the low beams with a strip of tape on the garage door. I then marked a second set with the brights. I then marked the position of the headlights as well as the rear tires on the driveway. I then positioned the C2 in the same spot and aimed the lights onto the marks on the garage door. I then drove the C2 at night and the aim was perfect.
