    Big Block tune up

I would appreciate suggestions as to where I can obtain quality tune up parts such as a distributor cap, points, capacitor, and plug wire set for a stock 1966 390 HP big block. Manufacturers part numbers would helpful. Possibly Mallory distributor parts and Taylor wires? Anyone have first hand experience of late? Eventually I will be adding the shielded wires with stock distributor chrome, but not for awhile. Thank you for the suggestions.

    Accel cap and rotor kit----#8124

    Accel point and condenser kit-----#8101

    AC Delco wire kit-----508R

The AC Delco wire kit are radio suppression wires but they will work very well. This is a fully assembled set; no ends to install.

Virtually all commonly available ignition system replacement parts (and other electrical replacement parts including those for generators/alternators, and starter motors), regardless of brand, including Delco, are made by Standard Motor Products. They are generally OE quality and to casual observation look like OE but vary when you get down to reading the molded in data - like on distributor caps.

The current brands that are SMP manufactured include Standard, Blue Streak, Delco, Echlin, BWD. and Niehoff, and at least one of these brands should be available at most any auto parts outlet, and regardless of brand, it's the same SMP manufactured part.

The Accel ignition parts are not made by Standard Motor Products. Or, if they are, then they make them different than the ones they make under their own and the other brands you mentioned.

I don't know who mfgs. the Accel parts, so I did not include them in the list of SMP mfged. parts. I expect the SMP mfged. are less expensive, and they are readily available for most of us at the nearest auto parts store.
