Took a quick spin around the block ( OK, SEVERAL) to see how it steers and stops. Runs nice, held temp at 180 and ran smooth! Can't wait to get chrome back from shop.

Re: '55 on the road pic
That looks great. Congratulations. I am glad to see that you were wearing the factory supplied seat belts, as your factory supplied door seems to be missing.
How are your seat belts anchored? Most of the 53-55 cars I have seen with seat belts just used a big washer on the underside.

Re: '55 on the road pic
Russ, doors go on today or tomorrow, just easier to work on wiring with no doors closing on legs... Yep, jumbo economy size washers hold the belts down, hopefully I'll never have to test how well they hold...

Re: '55 on the road pic
My 53 #276 has racing belts from the early 1960s installed. But these belts are secured by big washers as well. #276 has 314k miles on it, but the longtime owner never had an occasion to test the washers - no wrecks.
I know of a 54 where the owner anchored the belts with aircraft cable going thru some holes in the frame. No idea if that works any better than just using a big washer. But it looks more secure.
Your 55 looks great. Your pic motivates me to take my 59 out for a spin today. But I am going to keep my door on....

Re: '55 on the road pic
Thanks Roy! You have been a huge help and inspiration in getting this done. It was quite a mess when I started. It was like an onion: once I started peeling off layers, I couldn't stop until I finished. Still a lot more work ahead, but it is easy stuff now.
Thanks!

Roy what year was your trailer made and what brand? Anything structural I should look for. The price on the one I am looking is very resaonable.
